Работил е като инструктор в спортни клубове, учител, а от 1982 г. постъпва в органите на МВР, където заема различни изпълнителски и ръководни длъжности. Занимава се с обществена и консултантска дейност. Негови статии и интервюта са публикувани в различни издания. Чест гост е на радио- и телевизионни предавания, като основно коментира въпроси, свързани с националната сигурност.
