Петър Стефанов е роден през 1954 г. в с. Горско Абланово, Търговищко. Професор е по литература за деца и юноши във ВТУ Св. Св. Кирил и Методий и Тракийския университет, Стара Загора. От 2003 до 2006 г. е лектор по български език и култура в Университета за световни езици Аблайхан, град Алмати, Казахстан.
