Юрий Андрухович е роден през 1960 г. в Ивано-Франкивск, Украйна. През 1985 г. заедно с Виктор Неборак и Олександър Ирванец създават концептуалната група за литература и музика "Бу-Ба-Бу" (Бурлеска-Балаган-Буфонада). От 1989 до 1991 г. живее в Москва и учи в Литературния институт "М. Горки".
