Авторът на тази книга е роден на 5 юни 1934г. в с. Каменово, Разградско. Начално и средно образование завършва в гр. Тутракан, а висше филологическо - в Софийския университет "Св. Климент Охридски". 13 години е гимназиален учите в Тутракан. От есента на 1969г. работи в Института за българския език при Българската академия на науките като научен сътрудник в Секцията за общи, индоевропейско и балканско езикознание с класически и нови езици (преименувана по-късно в Секция за българска етимология, а в началото на 2001 г. в Секция за българска етимология и ономастика).
